Ode to Nature

I just started Alisa Burke's newest class Ode to Nature.  Love her!

So this week it is all about "seeing" nature.

And who doesn't love a trip to the dunes to take another look.

We went later than usual, so we got to enjoy the evening waves, the setting sun and warm breezes while I went around snapping photos.

One thing I realized yesterday is how much I LOVE the dunes and how peaceful they are to me, but ironically enough, I never work in those neutral color tones.  Makes me think.

No Fool's today. 

It was beautiful. 

Delicious. 

Quite Tropical if I must say so myself.

We loaded up the car to enjoy a day at the "beach" on our Stay-Cation for Spring Break 2010.  We headed for my favorite place...the Dunes. 

I brought my Doodle Journal, jelly pens and after some hiking plopped down to doodle and journal (to be finished this evening).  Now that is bliss.

Some of the sights and inspiration of the day....

View from one of the mighty sand dunes that I tackled.  It was amazing.  There was a cool breeze coming off Lake Michigan.  The temperature at the beach was a good 20 degrees cooler than inland.  

A day at the beach is well worth the cooler temperatures.

Who doesn't love rock hunting.  And this rock won our hearts!

Family Time Fun

Taking full advantage of a day off from school and substitute teaching we all headed for one of my favorite places...the dunes! For some sledding. We sailed down the dune and across the snow covered parking lot. Trust me...you don't go up and down a lot, but it is fun!


Then we headed in downtown Traverse City to take in the snow sculptures and ice carvings, part of the 2010 WinterFest. We all cracked up at the "surfer gnome"!
This one is for our Vikings friends back in Minnesota!

And for all of the Red Wing Fans!

We topped the day off with dinner out.

And now.....time for knitting Olympics.
